Quite recently, the guinea fowl of the Zagorian breed appeared. This bird was artificially deduced, by the efforts of Russian scientists. This breed of guinea fowl is a direct descendant of the gray-speckled breed of guinea fowl. As a result of numerous experiments, scientists still managed to obtain the species of birds that differed from their parents.
Descendants had a white color in the chest area. Subsequently, the best and strongest specimens were selected. They served as the source for the creation of a new breed. At the moment, the number of guinea fowls of this breed is about 60 thousand pieces.
Over the improvement of this species, scientists work until today. On the basis of the guinea fowl of the Zagorian white-bearded, 3 more subspecies were withdrawn. At the same time, they differ widely among themselves, as a rule, according to their productive characteristics. Birds are bred in private lands, mainly on the territory of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. This breed has a rounded trunk shape, of short length. Her back is wide enough and very convex.
The guinea fowl has a high and slightly flat chest, which in males and females differs by some features. The female has much fleshiness, but the male has a pointed form. The guinea fowl possesses a powerful beak, which is bent downwards. Her head is small, decorated with a pair of earrings, painted in red and white shades. They can have a shape that is both rhomboid and slightly rounded.
Depending on the color of the feathers, the bird skin can be either gray or dark blue. The guinea fowl has a rather short tail, long and large wings. Zagorskaya white-bearded guinea-fowl has a dense feather. Its main color is pearly gray. However, the main feature of the bird is its white breast. The feathers that are there are very similar to the chicken feathers.
In addition, the guinea fowl has small white spots all over the surface, but they are almost invisible. Its beak is colored yellow. In this case, the legs of the same shade. Judging by the quality of meat and eggs, this is a fairly valuable species. Young guinea-pigs that reached 70 days old, favorably differ from other breeds in their weight, which is 1000 grams.
For each kilogram of increase in weight of a bird it is necessary to spend about 3.2 kgs of forage. For one cycle the female is capable of demolishing from 115 to 120 eggs, which have a pear-shaped shape. Of these, 86%, and sometimes all, 90% are sent to incubation. Eggs are not very large. Their average weight can be 45 grams.
Sexual maturity and these guinea fowls come early. As a rule, this is 7.5 months. At fertilization under natural conditions 55% of hatching chicks survive. At that, fertilized eggs account for 76%. If the process of insemination was performed artificially, then approximately 68% of the young grow from 86% of the eggs. This breed of birds, in contrast to other guinea fowls, has higher commodity indices.
Mainly, thanks to the light color of the carcass and the pale egg shell. It is worth noting that thanks to a strong shell, eggs can be stored for up to 6 months in favorable conditions, without losing their taste and useful properties. An adult male can weigh up to 2 kilograms, and a female up to 2.5 kilograms.
At the same time, the edible part is 57% of the total weight. Poultry meat is very tender and tasty. It is nutritious and healthy. In addition, it contains a small amount of ash.
