Adult tree is small in size. Williams has a wide crown of a pyramidal shape, while it is not symmetrical. It can easily be formed at your own discretion. The bark is smooth to the touch, predominantly gray in color.


This variety produces thick shoots. In this case, they can be either straight or arcuate. On the shoots you can see the yellow lenticles, which have a small value.

Large leaves form on the tree. Their shape resembles an egg. At the same time they are stacked in the likeness of a boat. The foliage feels smooth to the touch and has a glossy sheen. All sheets have a short pointed tip. The streaks on the surface are colored yellow. The buds of this variety are slightly pointed and short.

During the flowering period, inflorescences of 6-7 flowers of medium size are formed. Pear blooms, as a rule, with delay and quite a long time. Flowers do not suffer from spring temperature changes and unfavorable weather.

The variety Williams mainly produces fruits of large sizes. The weight of one pear can reach about 170 grams. And on young plants, fruits can weigh 180 grams. Unripe pears have a light green hue, and as they mature, they become yellow. At the same time on the surface there are small specks, grayish color. – ascorbic acid in an amount of 5.4 milligrams per 100 grams of product;

– 0.42% titrated acid;

– only 13.8% of dry substances;

– sugar in the amount of 8.3%;

– for every 100 grams of pears, there are 42.6 milligrams of P-active catechins.

Fruits are formed on the tree for 2-3 pieces side by side. They hold fast to the branches. Harvesting, as a rule, occurs in mid-August. To prevent fruit from losing its appearance during transportation, they are removed from the tree before they fully ripen. Thus, they can lie up to 15 days. In the refrigerator, they can be as fresh and on day 45.

Williams is used for different purposes. Pears are good for fresh consumption. They also make a variety of compotes and preserves. In addition, the drying of these fruits has an excellent consistency and good taste.
