Growing rabbits in sheds is keeping animals in one room in cells-cells. Most often these are two-storeyed structures, consisting of symmetrical cells that are placed one above the other and stand wall to wall, and also covered with a special canopy.
There are both external awnings located in the open area, and internal, designed for construction in the room. More often breeders combine these two types of sheds, placing animals in spring and summer in street sheds, and in winter and autumn – in internal ones.
The shed system of keeping rabbits does not require additional adjustment and large investments when it comes to expanding space. Sheds can be rearranged in rows or built on without any particular expense. The shed system greatly facilitates the care of animals (it becomes possible to mechanize the system of drinking and feeding) and allows to contain more animals than single-storey cells of a standard sample. Sedentary maintenance of rabbits allows one breeder at a time to serve up to 150 females and 1500 rabbits until the moment of deposition.
The common length of sheds is from 100 to 80 meters. One 272 cells can be placed in one shed, if they are placed along the covered passage in two tiers, two rows on each side. The lantern in the glass flask is placed in the free space between the surface of the upper tier of the cell and the covering of the passage. The floor of the passage is recommended to be concreted on both sides and placed on both sides of the drain.
Thus, animals can be mechanized. The average width of the passages is taken from 120 to 140 centimeters. Cellular flooring is selected depending on the breed of rabbits, which will be contained in it and can be both mesh and rack with sloped pallets made of wood. Shields that cover pallets are placed on the back of the cells. The length of the shed cells varies from 120 to 140 centimeters, the depth (width) from 65 to 70 cm, the height of the rear wall is 36 cm, the height of the front wall is 51 to 55 cm.
The size of the cell in the floor grid should be 1.8 cm by 1.8 cm. If the floors are rack-mounted, then you need to choose a solid wood species, the lower width of the rail should be 3 cm, the top one – 5 cm, and the thickness not less than 2.5 cm. During cell operation, the initial design may be amended and modified, depending on environmental conditions and other factors. The canopy above the cells is a rectangle with a width of 3, 6 meters and a length of 82 meters, based on the fact that the width of the passage is 1, 4 meters (the canopy is closed with Finnish shavings).
Rabbits are distributed in the cells as follows: the lower tier is occupied by rabbits that make up the population of the main herd, and in the upper tier there are young animals.
If young animals are kept for meat meat, then it is most expedient to keep animals in bilateral sheds. Such a shed construction allows fully mechanized manure cleaning, water and feed distribution. At the same time, six hundred individuals can be kept in bilateral sheds. Two-sided sheds are placed on a concrete sloping floor, the length of a single shed is 40 meters, the width of the passage is 140 cm, the width of the canopy is up to 5 meters, the shape of the roof is gable.
As the cells, the wooden frames covered with a mesh net appear. A tree is used to make the back wall, front and side walls. Self-feeders and doors are mounted in the front partitions. For the drinking of animals, float drippers are used. Do not cover the floors of the cells with hay. Litter can not only impede the automatic cleaning of manure, but also become a hotbed of various diseases.
