Silver turkeys gave the world the North Caucasus, where this species was obtained. Therefore, the breed is called North Caucasian silver. Breeders crossed the Uzbek pale turkey with a white broad-chested, and received a real miracle, both according to external data and qualitative indicators

Silvery North Caucasian turkey is important. Her chest is wide, very prominent forward. The back is also large, but, on the contrary, sloping. It has well-developed wings. Legs of turkey coral (pinkish-red) color. They are also very well developed. Turkey can boast a luxurious, long tail and silvery-white plumage (hence the name). And all this splendor is crowned by a small, neatly planted head

Already in 40 weeks the turkeys of this breed become adults. They have puberty at this age. The four-month-old bird weighs about 3.5-5.2 kg, while the adult females reach a mass of 7 kg, and the males – as many as 15. The North Caucasian silver is a very prolific breed. Having reached puberty, the turkey begins to be carried with great speed – for a cycle it is capable of laying off from 40 to 75 eggs, each weighing about 80 grams. The shell can be of different colors – from white to brown in speckles. With fertilization, this breed also has no problems – it occurs in 95% of cases, and in 75% of cases turkeys appear safely

An important feature of the breed is its ability to reproduce, both in the usual way, and by artificial insemination. The parameters in the second case are almost the same as those for natural fertilization. The maternal instinct in the females of the North Caucasian silver turkey is very developed. At first, they diligently sit on eggs (they are even used as hens for hatching chicks of other breeds of turkeys), and then cherish the babies with awe. This factor, as well as the fact that the silvery turkeys are generally unpretentious and capricious, do not differ, minimizes the “infant mortality” among turkeys. And in the future the birds retain an enviable viability

In addition to eggs, the North Caucasian silver turkey is a valuable source of meat. Its yield in pure form is approximately 44.5-58%. Of these, a significant part is the most delicious and high quality meat of the brisket (as the breast has a large volume of turkey). As a result of many years of breeding work, the scientists achieved what they wanted and got what they wanted. Breeding birds for eight generations retain the highest potential of reproductive qualities and viability. These properties are transmitted from parents to the chicks, which indicates their robustness and reliability of the genetic code. The breed is considered to be a steadily developing

Initially, a new species was created for breeding by amateurs. But the high indices of the North Caucasian silvery make the population attractive for industrial poultry farming. Today, the process of growing such turkeys for industrial purposes is becoming more active and is gaining momentum
