If you adhere to the rules of proper feeding and proper care for pregnant females, you can get a large and healthy litter. The way you will feed your queens depends primarily on their age, weight and other important indicators. In addition, you need to pay special attention to the level of their fatness.
Growing and adult pigs should receive different food. Food is also different for pigs in the first and second half of pregnancy.
Young queens should receive more food than adults. This is due to the fact that they are in the stage of active growth and development of not only their fruits, but also themselves.
The first half of pregnancy requires less nutrients than the second. This is because embryos develop much more slowly in the first months of gestation. But in the following months there is an active growth. That is why the diet in the second half should be increased.
Protein, calcium, phosphorus and vitamins should necessarily be included in the diet for proper development. Incorrect feeding can affect the slowing of embryo growth. As a result, the farmer risks getting weak offspring. And sometimes the birth of dead fruit is possible. That’s why it is extremely important to monitor the good quality of feeds fed. Carefully ensure that pigs are not given food damaged by mold, rotten or frozen. It is necessary to pay attention to the proper content of vitamins and nutrients in the diet of pigs.
The diet of the second half of pregnancy should include a large content of nutrient compounds. Almost rude and juicy fodder should be excluded, only in small quantities. Especially it is necessary to exclude from the ration the milk feed.
The pregnant sows should be out in the fresh air every day. Of course, rain, heat, frost and other rags of weather – not the best time for walking. In order to avoid colds and illnesses, such walking is best avoided.
If the pregnant sow is given a full feeding and active daily walks, i. e. you can promote good fatness of the queens and the proper development of the offspring.
To control the level of fatness of the queens, you need to calculate the mass that they gained during the period of pregnancy. It should be approximately equal to 40-50 kg.
As soon as the warm season has come, it can and should be given to sows to walk on pastures. Pasture should be carried out every day until the time of reception of food in order that they eat more herbs. The optimal time for grazing is the morning before the heat has come, or the afternoon after the heat has subsided. Heat threatens an animal with a sunny impact, which can lead to death.
How much sow grazing should depend more on the quality of the pasture. A good rich pasture promotes the rapid saturation of animals. On such pastures they usually eat up from 40 to 60 minutes. But in a poorer pasture, animals can be between two and four hours. In any case, the grazing should be finished after the uterus began to dig in the ground. To dig in the earth the uterus is allowed only on familiar and cleaned territories.
At the grazing site, there must certainly be a trough full of water. Before grazing for an hour, it is necessary to feed the pigs with concentrates for the best eating of the grass.
If sows do not graze in spring and summer, they need to feed fresh grass in combination with concentrates in pens. On the day the uterus should receive about 12 kilograms of young grass.
