Pavlovskaya breed of chickens

Pavlovsky chickens were first hatched in the XVIII century in the village of Pavlovo in Russia. For the first time the breed was demonstrated at the International Poultry Exhibition, held in St. Petersburg in 1899. At the same time, the standard standard of the breed was approved, which modern poultry breeders try to adhere to, even though the breed is almost never lost

Virtually none of the large poultry farms can meet the Pavlovian breed of chicken today, but it still persists in individual farms, however, its original form is lost, as there is no reliable information about which breeds of hens were the source for the creation new breed

Maintenance and care The Pavlovsk breed of chickens is most suitable for the climatic conditions of the north of Russia, birds can easily tolerate even very large frosts. Chickens are unpretentious in their food and maintenance, they feel great in a common hen house with an earthen floor and a thick layer of thatched litter

They contain chickens both in medium sized pens and in cages. Birds are very mobile, but not fearful, therefore in order to avoid dangerous for birds contact with domestic and wild animals, it is better to build a fence using a grid height of at least 1.5 meters

Feeding Feed chickens, like birds of any other breed, with cereals and barnacles. Do not forget about the benefits of greenery, vegetables and chalk to build muscle and bone skeleton of the bird

Gourmets of Pavlovian birds can not be called, in most cases, chickens eat everything they are given. In the meat pans, you can add pieces of meat, eggshell remains and finely grated beets, cucumbers, zucchini. In the henhouse there must always be fresh drinking water

Breeding parameters The weight of Pavlovian chickens is small, the cocks in adult age do not gain 2 kg when fed well, the weight of chickens does not exceed 1.5 kilograms. Eggplant of birds is also low, during the season one chicken is able to demolish no more than 90 eggs, because the breed can not be considered suitable for industrial breeding, rather it can be used to improve the breed qualities of other birds, or for decorative purposes, since Pavlovskaya chicken is extremely beautiful. The shell color is white, the weight of the egg barely reaches 50 grams

Chickens are good hens, they gladly bring chickens, therefore, not having enough eggs of the Pavlovian hen, you can use it as a hen for chickens of other breeds

Despite the fact that the breed was not completely restored, the poultry breeders have a breed standard for chicken, which must be adhered to by a novice hen house, who decided to breed Pavlovian hens. So, the hens claiming to be classified as Pavlov breed must have:

4 well developed fingers; straight fluffy tuft; average feather covering on legs; clear color of feathers; beard and spurs.
