Onion landing on the head

Onion is the most useful and popular vegetable. It is not only added to each cooked dish, but is also consumed fresh. To get a good harvest, you need to follow several rules

Soil Preparation Originally from the autumn it is necessary to prepare the land, it will grow well in the place where previously grown, zucchini and tomatoes. Beforehand, you need to fertilize the soil with manure for a better harvest

Planting time The head is planted in the early spring after the completion of frost, when the temperature of the air warms up to +12 degrees, during this period, cherry and crocus begin to bloom. It can not be planted in not warmed up land, in which case it will simply pass into the stem. Of course, and debug the landing before the drought is impossible, because in dry land it will be difficult to take root

Planting material

Planting material can be of various sizes. Before planting it is necessary to sort the heads up to one centimeter in diameter, planted earlier, and a diameter of two centimeters is planted much later. Such a bow is mainly planted on arrows, since a good head from it does not work

Preparation Before planting a ray, it must be prepared in advance for planting. It needs to be warmed up or else they say “to smoke”. For this, the planting material should be placed in a warm place and dried within a month

In order to protect the vegetable from possible diseases and microbes, it must be soaked in manganese tincture. Manganese should be diluted in water until pink. Then in such a solution soak all the prepared planting material for a day, then pull it out of the solution and dry it well. Also from various diseases, the heads before planting can still be soaked in a solution of nitroammophos for ten hours

Stimulate sleeping buds in another way. To do this, the heads selected for planting should be lowered for two minutes first in hot water, and then for a minute in a cold one. After such stimulation, the growth of the onion will be directed to the head and less will go to the arrows

Planting Such a vegetable, like a bow preferably planted next to a carrot, and even better to do alternately beds, alternating onions and carrots. With such an alliance, these two vegetables will protect each other from pests. If you decide to plant a bow, alternating rows of onions and carrots, then the distance between them should be about twenty centimeters. So that the carrot does not drown its onion onions

Small bulbs should be planted at a distance of five centimeters from each other. Middle bulbs are planted ten centimeters from each other. The onion needs to be deepened into the ground at the height of the head, and the ends are covered with earth, it will sprout for seven days

Top dressing, watering and care After germination, after twenty days it needs to start to fertilize. To do this, you can make an infusion of mullein or from the nettle. Onions need to be seasoned three times with a special solution or mineral fertilizers

The first top dressing is performed ten days after emergence. The second feeding in three weeks, and the third feeding in seven weeks. When you see that the heads are starting to gain mass, then you need to loosen the soil

To loosen the earth it is necessary for the tip of the onion to be above the ground and air to the head of the onion. If you planted a bow together with a carrot, it will be even better, since some of the land from the onion during loosening will cover and hump carrots

You should water the onions twice a week, provided it does not rain. After watering the onion and after the rain, the soil must necessarily be loosened up. It must be breathable in order to keep the onion well. In the middle of summer, watering is reduced, and two weeks before harvesting will be necessary, watering is completely stopped

Harvesting The collection of onions begins at a time when the arrows begin to turn yellow and fall to the ground, and the bulb acquires a yellow tinge. The collection time for onions ranges from July to September, depending on the time of planting and the climatic belt. Onions also need to be cleaned before the autumn rains, as it can go into growth. When harvesting onions, the tops are not immediately cut off, since when drying the onion a part of the nutrients passes into the bulb itself.
