The Nubian goat appeared on the territory of Russia quite recently, 10 to 14 years ago, and this breed did not come from Namibia, where it was bred at the end of the 19th century, but from England and the United States.
A modern Nubian goat breed has been discovered in the UK, by crossing hardy Nubian females with Zarib males.
As a result of this crossing, a new breed emerged, the height of which at the withers was more than 80 centimeters, and the color turned out to be very different, from white to brown, black, brown, spotted and cream. The head of the animal is short, the nose with a hump, the ears are very long, large and almost flat, because of them the animal looks very comical. The udder of an adult goat is large with long thin nipples. The legs of the goat are also long, very slender and straight. The wool of the Nkbi goat breed is beautiful, soft, long and silky, but not suitable for haircuts. Female horns are not observed, males also have small horns, which sometimes are not noticeably pacty, as they are bent back and hide in thick wool.
An adult goat weighs up to 50 kilograms, the weight of an adult goat can reach 70 kilograms. Goat reaches maturity already by the first year of life, but it can be fertilized before. In each litter of the Nubian goat there are 3 or more kids, while the goat, even without kids, is able to give practically 2 to 4 liters of milk per day for almost a year. The fat content of milk is 5-8%, it is very sweet and pleasant to the taste, absolutely devoid of any smell, due to which goat’s milk is considered to be fit for consumption only by amateurs. From the milk of Nubian goats you get the most delicious cheese of the highest quality. With proper care and rich in vitamins, goats are able to give up to 900 kilograms of milk per year, and also bring two litters. If the goat is fed a nutritious food, then for an extremely short period of time it will reach maximum weight and will be suitable for sale for meat,
Unfortunately, it is not always profitable to plant Nubian goats in Russia, as animals are extremely tender, they do not tolerate cold weather, they hardly tolerate severe Russian winters, they often suffer from illnesses, including infectious diseases. Breeding the breed is recommended only in warm regions, where its minuses will turn into pluses.
Goats Nubian breeds are friendly, good-natured, very mobile and playful, they are very clean and therefore almost never smell from them as from other animals. It is worth noting that despite such high quality Nubian goats are very stubborn, there are the Norovists, especially the males, it is very difficult to drive them into the corral. If the goats are kept in large numbers together, they begin to fight each other, regardless of age and gender, females can trample the young, and males can strike them hard, because Nubian goats are considered unfit for breeding on large livestock farms, although at home they have no equal on the convenience of breeding.
Considering the Nubian goat as a domestic animal, it is important to remember that the high quality and characteristics of the breed will only manifest itself in the case of proper feeding. Feed for goats should be exclusively nutritious, saturated with vitamins and minerals. The best food for sheep is grain, vegetables and legumes, feed should be poured into the feeders twice a day, but at least, to the lack of feed, goats are very negative, therefore, before buying a lamb of the Nubian goat, it is worthwhile calculating the cost of fattening and maintenance, so as not to remain at a loss.
