If you apply mulching, the soil will be saturated and become like a sponge, it will perfectly absorb water and rain and thaw. Due to the formed structure, tunnels will appear in the soil, for good air movement and for better condensation of dew. Also, special capillaries are formed there, along which nutrient solutions pass, this becomes very convenient for plowmen.

Mulching the soil means to cover it with a dead layer, which includes mulch paper, manure, straw, peat, moss, reeds and others. This method is used to keep moisture in the upper layer of the soil, as well as a good temperature, a smaller amplitude of the oscillation, more useful microbiological processes became active, to disappear the weeds, and to protect the surface layer from various natural influences.

After such treatment of the soil, the growth of plants increases and the yield becomes much greater. Mulching using mulch paper was used in Russia in special institutions that conducted experiments in viticulture. Institutions were the zonal experimental station in Anapa, a research institute that was engaged in winemaking and viticulture – “Magarych”. The experiments were as follows: before the buds budded, the mulch paper was spread in the spring and when the rains were over.

This method reduces the formation of weeds, increases soil moisture, decreases the amplitude of temperature fluctuation, which contributes to a good growth of plants to 30% and an increase in yield to 50%. The data of the Magarych Institute established that the yield on the southern coast of the Crimea increased by 24% without losing the flavoring qualities of the wine, and the shoots grew lighter and the grapes ripened much earlier. Experiments have shown that if mulching the soil of vineyards and a schoolchild with vines, mulch in most cases affects the accelerated growth of the rhizome and significantly increases the yield of plants. In those areas where the soil is more dry, very good results are obtained.

For mulching the vineyard, it is necessary to examine the soil, and also to test the materials. Experiments that were conducted in vineyards, proved how mulching affects the growth and fructification of plants. Mulching perfectly fights so that the roots of plants do not freeze, and the sandy soils do not lose a large amount of sand. In such cases, the soil must be poured onto the mulching layer and organic materials will not blow off the wind.

All agronomists are advised to use mulching, especially if you need to grow a large number of vineyards and get excellent yields, especially if you plan to grow a well-known cultural grape varieties and get a wine of excellent quality and taste. Mulching can also be used at home and then the wine will turn out to be excellent even for the simplest grape varieties.
