Goats are very smart, interesting, curious, they remember well how caress and care, and resentment, often revenge for bad treatment. If you treat the goat carefully and keep it in good right conditions, it will thank you not only for caress and playfulness, but also for a good milking and beautiful shiny hair. Fertilized females need special care and good nutrition. During pregnancy, the goat should walk more, or rather walk, so as not to get tired and not to be depleted, preferably in good weather. The moron has a beneficial effect on the process of birth, facilitating them, also on the fetus itself, contributing to better development.
Do not tolerate rude behavior towards goats during pregnancy, you can not drive them too fast, and especially beat them. Keep it in a warm, dry and lighted place, without drafts and dampness. Do not expose animals to ice or severe frosts on the street. The young goat nurses about 5 months, about a month before childbirth, it is necessary to stop milking, because it is during this period that goats most strongly need nutrients, and milking affects negatively their development. But you can not stop sharply, you need to gradually reduce the frequency of milking, and milk your milk every time until the last drop, to prevent the udder and nipples. Childbirth, as a rule, passes quickly, about 20 – 40 minutes, if the goat is okay. Most often, she gives birth, but if the fetus lies in the wrong posture or the goat is weak, then the obstetrician will need help.
The correct position of the fetus – the limbs forward, the head is pressed to them. Immediately after the kids were born, the female rises to her feet and thus the cord stops, if this does not happen, then cut it off, leaving a piece of 7cm from the abdomen and apply a 5% iodine solution. Immediately after this, the goat must lick kids. After that, it should be drunk with warm water and milked. Before milking, rinse the udder with warm water and wipe it with a clean cloth. The first few streams of milk – colostrum must be drained, they contain microbes that are dangerous for both humans and the kid. In the first days after the birth, the goat is fed and milked qualitatively 5 times a day, then switching to three meals a day.
Wintering goats is necessary in a warm room, with a temperature of +8 degrees, without drafts and dampness. In this regard, it is recommended to clean the stall of goats much less often, in winter than in summer, so that the heat in the room lasts longer. Rest and sleep goats on special litter, made of straw or sawdust, rookery must be dry always. All these precautions are mandatory, so that animals do not get sick, frequent cases – diseases of hooves and udders. The fact is that in the warm season, animals walk a lot and hoofs are naturally undermined, and in the winter period in the stall, the goat does not move so much and the litter is soft, the hooves begin to grow rapidly, dirt gets in the slit and possibly inflammation and decay, it is necessary to clean the hoof crack from time to time, and cut the hoof itself.
Outdoor walks are needed at any time of the year, at least 5 minutes in winter, then the immune system gets stronger, but at a very low temperature (below -25 degrees), the animal should not be taken out to the street, also with heavy snow and wind. We should not forget about the diet for the winter. As a rule, it is hay, various root crops, combi feeds, mineral supplements. After the stall to the pasture, the goats are accustomed gradually, before haymaking they usually give hay or concentrated fodder. Properly inspect the hoof, for the presence of injuries and cracks, if any, then disinfect. Grazing in a warm period of time begins very early, during the peak of the heat, from 12 to 16 hours it is better to take a break and drive the animals into the stall, the heat they suffer is difficult.
