Geese are birds, quite simple in breeding and growing. In large farms, geese breeding is put on stream and includes: the process of buying eggs, incubating, growing small goslings, fattening geese in order to obtain a large amount of meat and internal organs, as well as leaving the best individuals for breeding and subsequent slaughter of the remaining birds.
In ordinary households it is best to breed geese with the purchase of grown geese, about 2-3 weeks old. Younger chicks are not worth buying, since the mortality among goslings from birth to reaching a week-old age is almost 50%. The money spent on such a gosling can be considered thrown to the wind. Gusiat should have a healthy appearance, be about the same size, equality in age is necessary, because stronger and adults can harm little, not allowing them to the food trough.
In addition, older geese can also cause purely physical damage to younger ones. When buying, special care should be taken to clean the gusenka key, as well as the dryness of the anus and the tail fluff of the chick. Wet tail is a clear sign of the started diarrhea, which can be a manifestation of various infectious diseases, dangerous not only for the goslings themselves, but also for other domestic animals.
Healthy goslings are always restless, they quickly move, hiss and even pinch when trying to take them in hand, the sick individuals show weakness and some kind of dullness.
The second important aspect when breeding goslings is the construction of a suitable house. Geese in content are indiscriminate, but they need a clean, dry and well-ventilated room. As a place for keeping geese, an ordinary wooden shed will do, but it is best to build a solid stone barn with a foundation, windows and doors. The more kind the building is, the more difficult it will be for such predators as weasel, marten and fox to penetrate inside and destroy the labor of several months.
Geese are impervious to weak drafts, because sometimes drafts are even useful to these birds, but in small quantities and mostly with large crowding of geese in one place.
When building a house, only high-quality materials should be used, it is advisable to take care of the insulation for the winter in advance, covering the roof with straw, hay, or corn stalks in autumn.
For breeding geese, you need to stock up a lot of corn, corn, or flour, greens, preferably fresh zucchini and cucumbers. If there is a grazing next to the house, you should set up a corral there, in order to be able to transfer geese to the pasture in summer. It is important to understand that geese can only trample and spoil all the grass in a pen in just a few days, so let them out there best for a few minutes, then move them to another paddock.
Geese a day consume a fairly large amount of water, in addition, they love to moisten their feathers and stomachs, because of which drinking bowls constantly change with water. To avoid this trouble, you can arrange a small pool in the pen area.
Feed adult geese up to 3 times a day, trying to get the most part of the feed for birds at night. Small goslings are fed from 6 to 8 times. The food should be fresh and smelling good. In the usual feed diet, goslings are injected with boiled eggs, cottage cheese, and also milk. Adult geese need to be fed eggshell once a week.
The first slaughter of geese is made at 3-4 months of their life, because the younger the goose, the more delicious and juicier its meat. With age, meat becomes harder and harder, and is most suitable for extinguishing. Slaughter of geese is done by the usual removal of the head of a goose with a sharp knife, or with an ax. The warm carcass after the descent of the blood should be placed in a basin of hot water for better release from the feathers, and then start cutting the goose.
