Care and maintenance of geese

Breeding geese – a very profitable occupation. All that is required for this: about 90 days in reserve, pasture for walking – during this time the small goslings grow significantly, and their weight can reach 3 kg! Why goose breeding has a high payback One goose litter can bring their owner up to seventy kilograms of tasty meat and eggs; Valuable goose down and feathers are in high demand; Small expenses for the maintenance of geese and their feed

Geese are unpretentious birds: in the warm season they prefer to “live” on the street under a canopy, and a cold flock of herds (except for the incubating geese) is ready to meet in an unequipped barn

As in geese there is a laying of eggs Goose can hatch their eggs on bare ground. The number of eggs laid and their size largely depends on the age and breed of goose – the value varies from 12 to 70. Goose eggs are very similar to chicken, but very expensive, therefore unpopular

To increase the time for eggs, farmers extend the light-day by electricity up to 14 hours. The gusyatnik should be warm, otherwise the eggs can freeze

By the way, the geese suffer a terrible heat. Near the pasture must necessarily be a pond or shrubs, if they are not – build sun shelter-carry

The process of growing geese After the appearance of the goslings, they are carefully examined: the brightest and strongest ones are left for cultivation. The slobs are placed in a temporary isolation ward, they are recruited – they are returned to a herd of young animals

The first two or three days the goslings are kept in a warm room, then they are planted to the hen (it can even be a turkey or chicken). First goslings to the hen are allowed only in the daytime – in case of danger it is necessary to react quickly. Experienced hens can grow up to 25 geese, inexperienced – up to ten

A bit about the gooseberry: it is made large, light, clean and do not allow drafts. Accommodation of geese at 1m?: – <10 days – up to ten goslings; – from 10 days to a month – up to seven goose; – from a month and> – up to 3 goslings

If the goslings hatch in March-April: they spend the night in a heated room until they reach 1.5 months. If they appeared in April-May – spend the night in the poultry house for the first three weeks

Feeding goslings After complete drying of the chicks, they must immediately be fed with finely chopped steep eggs, small croup – oats or barley will do. Be sure to give finely chopped motley grass, dandelion or clover. The best option is to keep geese in grazing, then they can be slaughtered for meat in half a year. And most importantly – the constant availability of fresh water.
