Beans belong to the family of legumes, and is divided into several types: – Lucid – with a coarse outer layer; – Semi-sugar – a weak outer layer; – Sugar (asparagus) – there is no outer layer.
The most important varieties are sugar varieties, they are used for conservation. The site for beans must be sunny and protected from the wind. The soil for beans is prepared from autumn, it is in this period that potash should be made at the rate of 140 g per m and phosphorus fertilizers – 270 g per m.
The introduction of organic fertilizer will not be superfluous. After fertilization, the ground is dug. In the spring, mineral fertilizers (phosphoric, potash, humus or manure) are added and the earth is thoroughly digested. Curly varieties are grown with pegs, the height of which should be at least 2.5 m. Before sowing, bean beans must be soaked for a day in warm liquid, previously having eliminated diseased and damaged grains, and then germinate for several days in gauze pouches until they are pierced.
Five minutes before sowing, it will not be superfluous to hold them for some time in a solution of boric acid, which will protect them from pests. The seed is planted in the first ten days of May to a depth of approximately 3 cm, between the beds the distance should be about 9 cm. If you grow the culture under a polyethylene film, then it grows much faster. In the first decade of June, the film is removed.
For the cultivation of shrub beans, pre-prepared seeds (similarly curly) are taken and sown, the distance between beds should be about 45 cm, and between seedlings about 9 cm. The planted beans are covered with a polyethylene film – moisture and heat are so well preserved. In hot weather, it must be removed. Beans are a fairly unpretentious plant, but high yields show if grown on light and drained soil.
The first shoots appear about a week later and are sensitive enough to a low temperature, so until warm weather sets, the seedlings must be covered at night. Adult seedlings withstand minor frosts without harm. The suitable temperature for normal growth is 20 to 25 degrees. Care of the culture consists in loosening the ground, removing weeds and watering in dry weather.
Loosen the soil from the very appearance of the shoots, but do it carefully not damaging the root system and not removing the plant itself. Then you can combine weeding with loosening at the same time, which is important if the soil can shrink or poorly flow moisture, which will not have the best effect on the crop. Approximately one month after the appearance of sprouts, it is necessary to produce the first fertilizing, usually using complex fertilizer for this purpose, but at this stage the plant needs nitrogen most of all.
If rainy weather, then the beans can get it from the atmosphere. Another month later, additional phosphorus, potassium and magnesium supplementation (contained in wood ashes) is carried out for better fruiting. The most important enemy of the bean are slugs. To combat them, it is necessary to weed out the beans in a timely manner and monitor the moisture of the soil. If they are divorced a lot, then they must be deleted. To do this, you must leave any objects to collect there.
Coping with viruses or fungi is helped by medicated preparations. Harvest is harvested a few weeks after the beginning of flowering. Experienced gardeners recommend sow beans after a row crop – the land is less infected with weeds. Re-planting beans can be five years later.
